Island life

VoIP platforms have been primarily used for connecting users within an organization, using 'free' data networks to connect telephony endpoints. But what about calls to other organizations? Currently, most calls outside of the organization still use the PSTN. However, there are a growing number of methods to connect enterprises together with VoIP, and this discussion covers several of these directory services: ENUM, SIP proxy redirectors, SIP URI use, and DUNDi will be compared and configurations examined.

John Todd, Tello, Inc

John Todd has been involved with the Internet industry since 1994, as a member of the founding teams of Digex, Cidera, and other notable Internet infrastructure providers. His principal expertise is in the area of provisioning system development, deployment, and integration, in environments ranging from co-location to leased-line to satellite to GIS. He is also an accomplished project manager in the areas of software development, provisioning, network operations, and customer service, having managed large groups of technical staff to bring products to market.
